SAN ANTONIO CHAPTER 99s
September 2004

A few notes about the picnic at Eunice's September 11 in Leakey. If you are driving to Nancy's, meet there at 10:00 AM to be shuttled to Eunice's home. If you are flying, you have a choice - you can land at Real County (Leakey - 49R) by Nancy's house or on the turf strip (T13) at Eunice's, which is 5 nm NW of Leakey. The elevation is 1730' and the runway 29/11 is 3100 x 200. If you would like to use Eunice's strip call Nancy as she will be more aware of its present condition.

Nancy is picking up the dinner at Mama Chole's (cost will be $5 each). Everything else is provided except desserts and hors d'oeuvres. If you plan to bring something, let Nancy know. (Gloria is bringing Queso and Salsa dips and chips - thanks to Reni, I learned that Queso is not spelled "casso" ) Also . . . Nancy needs a headcount for the enchiladas, rice and beans, so let her know how many are coming with you. Phone her at 830-232-4257 or e-mail at captgramma@yahoo.com.

We now have seven members attending Section Meeting in Santa Fe: Nancy, Winnie, Lena, Ruth, Laura, Gloria and Patty.

An update on the wine glasses: The members voted to purchase wine glasses with planes painted on them as a fund - raising project. They are dishwasher safe with porcelain paint. They will be ready to take to the Section Meeting in Santa Fe. We ordered three dozen, nine each of Cessna, Piper, Wright Flyer and Space Shuttle, in colors respectively blue, red, green and turquoise. This should encourage the sale of sets of four. Nancy will be taking them and has reserved a table at the Fly Market. Our cost is $7 a glass and we plan to sell them for $10 a glass. To help keep our cost down, Nancy suggested we members might donate some bubble paper we have around the house that we are saving for that someday when we might need it. We will need enough to wrap 36 wine glasses - that ' s optimism.

Happy Birthday !! Ruth Nichols (8th) and Mary Rohrer (13th).

99s Anniversary: Stella Leis - 5 years.

See you at the picnic! Promises to be fun.

                                                                                              - Gloria
