Many thanks to Patty Taylor for hosting our September gathering - just for fun and we did have a great fun time. Jo took some Minutes from our brief meeting, which are attached.
The EAA chapter out of BAZ has invited us to help at the gate as they host the B-29 and B-24 October 21-23 in Austin. If you would like to help, contact Reni for the details. We will receive a small portion of the proceeds.
Also, a reminder - South Central Section Meeting in Durango, October 21-23. Go to www.scs99s.org for registration and information forms.
Once again, the painting date of the compass rose in RKP has been moved. It is now November 4-6. Please contact Reni if you would like to help. It's fun and a very rewarding experience. Free lodging.
In case you haven't heard, Evelyn Sizemore passed away in September. There were two newspaper notices, but no service mentioned.
For those of you who knew Kay Renfrow, you probably know she passed away after her terrible ordeal with pancreatic cancer. A memorial service is being held October 22, 10:30 AM in St. Matthews Church, 810 Kitty Hawk, Universal City, Texas. Marty Goppert has directions if you need them. 830-981-9661 martyngop@yahoo.com
Ray Leis, 49 1/2 of Stella, passed away in September also. There was a memorial service held at Air Force Village the 24th. Our chapter members who attended were Reni Moczygemba, Cheryl Casillas, Jo Agee-Housler, Winnie Clements and Patty Taylor. The service was well attended and the reception was really nice, even with a jazz band, which Ray had requested.
Because of several events in October, there will be no scheduled Chapter meeting.
Do you have ideas for chapter meetings, i.e., locations, speakers, activities, etc.? Contact Reni. She really needs some input from chapter members.
~ Gloria

By Becky Smith (from Laura Smith's publication):
"My husband and I were at the races and were directly in the path of the plane as it barreled down to the box seats. Had it not veered 50 to 75 feet at the last moments I would not be sending this. Grateful to be alive, we grieve the losses and the sights we saw. Surreal is the only way to describe it.
In a split second thinking we were going to die. Then relief we were missed. Then fear of the debris hitting us. All seemed in slow motion. Finally seeing the bodies and body parts. The plane disintegrated when it hit. Shock doesn't even come close.
We got our return flights home changed to leave early. Now dealing with our own emotions.
This trip was my birthday gift to my husband. We went all out with pit passes, VIP hospitality privileges, and reserved seats."
