San Antonio Chapter 99s
October 2008

Our thanks and appreciation to Patty and Ben Taylor for hosting the September neeting/social event.  There were 18 in attendance and lots and lots of good things to eat.   Patty called a meeting after were thoroughly sated with food and talk - details in the minutes.

We will not be having a regular meeting in October.   It was deciced at the August meeting that we would leave the day free for those wheo would like to go to the fly-in in Kerrville.

Even though Alice Foeh has been in and out of the hospital, she is working on our final 50th year celebration event, which is scheduled to be a brunch on November 8th.   Details will be posted as they are available.

Several chapter members attended the viewing and service for Virginia McDaniel.   It is so sad to lose our dear friend and sister 99.

Laura Richter's sister Patti, is now under Hospice care.  Our thoughts are prayers go to Patti and her family.

October 22, 7:30 PM - Phil Boyer will be in San Antonio for an AOPA Town Meeting, Marriott Northwest, 3233 NW Loop 410.

Becky Smith and 49 1/2 Jim attended Oshkosh this year and she was included with the other 80+ 99s in a picture.  (Becky be sure and bring it to our next gathering.)

AOPA Expo will be held in San Jose, CA, November 6-8, 2008.   The 99s breakfast will be on Saturday morning, the 8th from 7:30-9:00.   If you plan to be there, go to www.santaclaravalley99s.org for registration forms or contact Sew Ballew at skytrekker10@sbcglobal.net or call 415-845-1058.

Nancy Aldrich is still serving as Trustee for the 99s Endowment fund.  Thanks, Nancy, for your support of this important 99s endeavor.  If you are tired of International 99s asking for money, then get busy getting the endownment fund up to $1,000,000.   We are only atb40% of our goal!!!

If you haven't paid your chaper dues for 2008, please send a check to Sherry Walker for $12, plus add $2 to that for the "Approach" (Section news magazine).  The chapter pays $2 for each member to receive the "Approach" whether you reimburse the chapter or not.   We are working on fund raisers, but our dues keep us going, so we can meet our donations, scholarships and expenses.

Talking about fundraisers - Sherry Walker has donated a Lowrance GPS (worth $500) and has put it up for auction on our website.   Go to the website, see what the latest bid is, then email Sherry to place your bid.   100% of the proceeds goes to the chapter.  She will keep it up-to-date, so you can re-bid if you get ovebid. This auction of open to everyone, so our non-member friends are welcome and encouraged to bid!   Go to www.sanantoniochapter99s.org for details.

Chapter Party - December 6th at Denise Pride's home, 24814 Cloudy Creek.   Plan to arrive about 5 PM (while it is still daylight).   Bring a gift (about $15 value) for our sill, but very fun gift game (you have to be a very good sport).   Menu details will be forthcoming, but put it on your calendar now.   Let's all plan to be there!

Our next Section Meeting will be in Granbury, Texas May 15-17, 2009.

If you didn't clean out your savings account for Alaska, our 2009 International 99s Conference will be in Chicago, July 22-26.  Hopefully that won't do too much damage, because we are sure you will want to go to Kona, Hawaii in July 2010.

Happy Birthday, October Girls!   Pam Crane and Terry Hepworth, both on the 24th.

99s Anniversaries on October:   Jo Agee-Housler (20 years).

It's a good thing you have the birthdays and 99s anniversaries in your Yearbooks and on the Internet, because I do occasionally forget (one of my very rare senior moments ) to put reminders in the newsletter, as I did in September.

Carol Levine had a birthday on September 3rd.   A very happy very belated birthday to Carol.

September 99s anniversaries were:  Stella Leis (9 years), Denise Pride (2 years) and Jenny Benjamin (1 year).

Aha! Denise is now eligible to hold chapter office.
