Saturday, May 8, 10:00 at Boerne Stage (5C1), Sherry Walker's hangar -3rd Annual BBQ Fundraiser. Our BBQ is for 99s and their families and friends and the folks in and around Boerne Stage Airfield. It is not a fly-in and not advertised elsewhere. We expect to serve around fifty plates. We make a little money, but have lots of fun. Reni will hold a short business meeting at some time Ð before or after the lunch. The following from Sherry Walker:"As most of you know we will have our 3rd annual Barbeque at Boerne State Airfield this coming May 8th. It will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM or until we run out of food. This year the cost must be $8.00 or we won't make any money, and this is one of our money making projects. Parking will be a problem this year. The lot across the taxiway from my hangar is now a construction zone so no one can park there. A new hangar is going up. Please park somewhere by the main FBO. We are In need of a few people coming at 10:00 AM to help set up tables, and get ready for the BBQ at 11:00. We are also in need of a few people to bring ice so if you can stop on your way to Boerne Stage and pick up some ice it would be appreciated. Please call Sherry at 830-336-3653 home or 830-431-0693 cell if you can bring some ice. We hope to see you all there; come and enjoy some BBQ and hangar flying."
~ SherryThe ladies who attended Section Meeting in Mesquite arrived home safely after a weekend of Saturday morning business meeting and the Real Texas Festival. We were free to attend the festival/rodeo Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening following the banquet, which was over early. If you like to shop, there were numerous vendors with all sorts of goodies. The music was good but loud. The business meeting was very short - over around 11:00. It was interesting to hear the chapter reports. We were given a list of the WASPs in our area so we can contact them.
New Section Officers were installed at the Saturday evening banquet:
Jody McCarrell, Governor
Cathy Wappler, Vice Governor
Jill Shockley, Secretary
Kris Ervin-Herron, Treasurer
Holly Barr, Director
Linda Horn, DirectorMay 28, 29 - WASP Homecoming in Sweetwater.
October 22-24 - Fall Section Meeting in Arlington.
April 1-3, 2011 - Spring SCS/SES Meeting in Lafayette, LA
A Houston 99s reported at the Friday meeting that they contacted Greg Abbott's office and were told they could do their Poker Runs as long as they stayed off the city streets. She also suggested calling the event "Hop Scotch" instead of Poker Run.
Cynthia Godfrey, Mesquite Airport Director, was extremely generous in the fuel discount to the 99s and we sure appreciate it - it was actually ten cents under the self-serve rate.
For those interested and did not get the email from Bob Bruce - Boerne Stage (5C1) is now "uptown" with AWOS. Phone 830-755-9099. Frequency 118.725.
No chapter meeting/activity planned for June.
Due to many conflicts during June, our Awards Banquet luncheon will be July 17. There is one person of interest for the guest speaker, but have been unable to contact at this time. If you have any suggestions for a guest speaker, please let Reni know ASAP. Phone 210-860-2602 or email renimoczygemba@hotmail.com
See you Saturday May 8th!!!
