We're almost to the end of another 99s fiscal year! Hard to believe, isn't it? It's been a fun and interesting year and next year promises to be just as exciting. We'll start our new year with the Installation and Awards Banquet June 6. Our new officers will be installed and Patty Taylor will be distributing her awards for this past year. She deserves the biggest and best!!A big thank you to Winnie for hosting the meeting in April. She is always willing every time we ask and it's very much appreciated. (See the attached Minutes for the details.)
If you couldn't make the BBQ at 5C1 on May 2, you missed a great time. Our thanks and appreciation to Sherry for again hosting this event! It's a mega amount of work getting the hangar ready and rounding up the supplies. We had a good turnout and made some money for our Student Pilot Scholarship. The 99s who attended were: Patty Taylor, Sherry Walker, Reni Moczygemba, Jo Agee-Housler, Laura Richter, Nancy Aldrich, Margaret Cosby, Denise Pride and Gloria Blank. Guests of 99s were: Margaret's friend, Claire, Sherry's friend, Shari, Patty's mother, Nell, and Patty's sister and brother-in-law.. We totally ran out of BBQ and had very little other left over, but was bought by some of the 99s present.
Sherry's report: The facts about the BBQ: The expenses were $190.18 for our food and we made $149.82 from the BBQ plates plus $80 from the raffle for a total of $229.82 last Saturday. A big thank you to Winnie for her B-17 airplane raffle. There will be a little more income from the cookies that are being sold in the FBO by Bob for the 99s.
Bob Bruce stopped by for a BBQ plate, so we took the opportunity to present him with the appreciation certificate we had made for him some time ago.
There's still time to decide to attend the Section Meeting in Granbury May 15-17. We're hoping for grand weather so those who prefer can fly. It's not a very long car trip either. Whichever, we look forward to a very good time.
We've been hearing about Pilots and Paws from Denise. Well, it's finally coming to fruition! On May 29, Denise and Reni are flying a 4-paws friend, Jake, on the first leg of his journey to Lubbock, TX where he will be picked up by another pilot and then another, etc. until he arrives at his final destination and new home in Reno, which will take a couple of days in all. It's astounding the response that came from so many pilots, who are doing this all gratis! Thanks to all of them!
