We had a great time at the Section Meeting in Lincoln. Seven of us attended: Patty Taylor, Sherry Walker, Reni Moczygemba, Kay Renfrow, Jo Agee-Housler, Laura Richter and Gloria Blank. And . . . we won the travel award! Patty took copious notes and a report will be forthcoming. We sold 16 cookbooks and will be selling more at the Poker Run, as well as being available at all chapter meetings. Support your chapter - buy a cookbook CD for $5 - we need the money! Our chapter will be selling bottled water at the EAA Fly-in at Hondo May 31 through June 2. Several volunteers have signed up already. If you want to help, contact Patty Taylor at 210-695-3032 or email at btaylor390@aol.com
The Awards and Installation Banquet will be held June 9 at Air Force Village. Stella Leis will be coordinating this event. Mark your calendars now! We will gather at 5 PM for wine and visiting (bring your own wine or whatever), dinner at 6 PM. The menu isn't available yet, nor the method of reservations, but those details will be forthcoming. The Village is on Hwy 90 West about 6 miles west of Loop 410. About 1 mile west of 1604, look to the right and see some very large buildings. That is the Village. Exit on Montgomery Road, then immediately exit right on John Ryan to the gate. The guard will be expecting the 99s and will have the names. Drive a short distance to the flag pole and park. Enter the lobby and Stella will meet everyone there. Please plan to attend and support our new officers being installed. Nancy will also be giving out awards. We'll have a fun evening!
Plans for the Poker Run May 5 are coming together. We have volunteers to staff the airports. If you'd like to help, contact Gloria at 830-815-1038 or email her at luv2fly@ktc.com. Come join the event at Gillespie County Airport (Fredericksburg) in the diner hangar. Have lunch, buy some raffle tickets and attend the safety seminar (will be good) at 1:00 PM. We'll also be selling our cookbook CDs and Nancy will have her books available for sale. Our room is the last room in the hangar from the diner (red door). Wait until you see the room! You'll love what they are doing to the place, and I'll bet you'll want to visit there again! Incidentally, they waived the fee for the room for us!!! We will be giving the owner (Rich Estenson) a certificate of appreciation. Hope to see you ALL there!!
Next regular meeting - May 12, 10 AM at Casarita Mexican Restaurant, corner Thousand Oaks and Jones Maltzberger (pink building with green awnings). There is a separate room for us. Terry is hosting this meeting and will be presenting the program. She will need your RSVP by May 10 - email her at missperfect55@sbcglobal.net or call her at (h) 210-637-5941, (c) 210-725-3725. We'll probably have reports on the poker run and the section business meeting.
See you May 5 and May 12!
Blue skies - Gloria
