"Ladies, just to set the record straight . . . we made 5 donations on January 23, 2004. They were: $25 Paid to AEMSF, "Career Scholarship" on the memo line. $25 Paid to AEMSF, "Future Women Pilots" on the memo line. $50 Paid to South Central Section, "Approach" on the memo line. $25 Paid to South Central Section, "Administration" on the memo line. $25 Paid to Ninety-nines, "NIFA Foundation" on the memo line. This is not an automatic recurring set of donations. In the minutes of 1-10-04, Jo Agee-Housler made a motion to give the above amounts to the various funds that I have listed above, and Laura Richter seconded the motion. In a previous set of minutes on 11-15-03, there was discussion of what we should give to whom and Sherry Walker was asked to find out and report.. She did this, and reported at the 1-10-04 meeting." - Nancy
The Section is asking for a $2/member donation for printing and mailing the "Approach". On May 16, 2005, an e-meeting (and phone survey) was taken to vote on sending Section the $2/member donation for the fiscal year 2004-2005, which ends May 31st. This was done because we will not have a business meeting until July and needed to pay this before May 31st.
The phone and e-meeting was completed May 17 and we had a total of 19 yes votes and no nays, so Sherry Walker is mailing a check to Section for the "Approach". This is for the fiscal year 2004-2005. Sherry will be addressing the issue of donations for 2005-2006 at a future chapter business meeting.
Remember - Chapter dues ($12/year) payable June 1st.
MEET YOUR NEW MEMBERS Reni Moczygemba is a student pilot and shares her mom's plane at Boerne Stage Airfield. Her husband's name is Roger, who doesn't fly but supports her, and has a 23-year-old son, Chris. When asked what prompted her to fly, she said, "My mom asked me to take a pinch hitters course just for emergencies. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, so I decided to continue."
"I thought it was too cool that my mom was a private pilot. I never imagined I'd be following in those footsteps. It just seemed too out of reach. Still does in that I'm going into my 2nd year since my initial flight lesson and remain licenseless. But now that I've been bitten, I can understand all the hooplah about flying. It's an experience that is in a class by itself, a feeling of excitement and self-accomplishment. Women pilots are a special breed who have earned the admiration of many. I look forward to being one of those women."
Reni joined the 99s right away (June 2004), and attends chapter meetings and functions, and attended her first Section Meeting in Grand Junction last month.
Dianne Wieman. . . I asked Dianne to explain her e-mail address (dischamp@aol.com), and here's her reply as well as a bio about herself: "The e-mail is Di's Champ - - - I refurbished an Aeronca Champ (7AC) from a pile of pieces. I am a CFI, A&P - ASEL and [have] a private glider rating. I was part of the 99s in Corpus Christi in the 80s and never transferred through my travels. I believe in supporting any women in aviation activity and attempt to do that as often as possible. I am also a pilot with the Civil Air Patrol and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. July 29th at Oshkosh (2:30 PM), I will be presenting the "Women Builders Forum". I have a Bachelor of Music Education, AAS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology and a MS in Computer Engineering., currently working as a Control Systems Project Engineer for a Contract company doing a waste-water treatment system. Married to a wonderful guy who puts up with my aviation habits (he has an instrument rating, though does not fly anymore). My married name is actually Dianne Wieman-Deyeso - but due to a late life marriage, no children and a huge hassle to change all of my documents, everyone knows me as Dianne Wieman.
Several of the San Antonio members know me and finally convinced me to join again! Until my hangar is completed at Zuehl (I am constructing it myself - welding and all), you will probably not see me at functions!" - Dianne
