HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
So far, I have remembered to date everything 2012 - - so far.
NEXT MEETING: Saturday, January 14, 2012, 10:00 AM. El Rio Restaurant in Boerne. When you arrive, the servers will take your order for your drink (coffee or tea) as well as your order for lunch. Lunch will be served after the meeting. You may order from the menu. The drinks will be served immediately so there will be no disturbances during the meeting and speaker.
We look forward to Col. Michael Cosby's talk "A humorous look at Human Factors/Performance During Aircraft Accidents". We'll also hear about his F-16 accident.
The restaurant is located on the south end of the strip center just south of Hwy 46 on Main Street. Coming from San Antonio, take the first Boerne exit. Pass Walmart and turn right in front of Jiffy Lube.
* * * * * * Again, we are invited to join the Zonta Club for the annual Amelia Earhart dinner. Amelia was also one of the charter members of Zonta - an organization of professional women. This is held January 18 in the Petroleum Club, top floor Energy Building, 8620 N. New Braunfels in San Antonio. From Loop 410, turn north on Broadway, right on Cheever to New Braunfels. The building is right there.
Plan to arrive around 5:30 for cocktails & social, dinner at 6:00 PM. The cost is $25, payable individually at the door. Please RSVP to Reni by January 14. Zonta will turn in the reservations to the Petroleum Club on the 15th. The tab is based on all reservations made. So, as usual, no-shows still owe the money.
The speaker is Sonia Hernandez. She is studying the optimization of spacecraft trajectories to Near-Earth Asteroids (NEAs). NEAs are small celestial bodies that orbit the sun on trajectories in close proximity to earth's orbit. Will be very interesting.
* * * * * * A great big THANK YOU to Stella Leis for arranging for our Christmas party at the club at Lackland. They always do a good job and the room was perfect. Another thank you to all who attended and contributed to the fun we had.
