SAN ANTONIO CHAPTER 99s
JANUARY 2004

If you couldn’t make the Christmas Party, you missed a wonderful time.  Our thanks and appreciation to Sherry and Hugh Walker for inviting us to their beautiful home for such a great time!

Our next event will be the SAT Airport Tower Tour on January 10th.  Please bring a dozen cookies/brownies/whatever to leave with those folk.  We will congregate at the Tower at 10 AM.

Also in January (the 21st) is the traditional Zonta dinner.  Nancy Aldrich will be their guest speaker, so let’s all try to make it.  It’s always an enjoyable evening.   Cocktails (cash bar) at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30 PM.  Dinner is generally about $20, pay at-the-door.  PLEASE let Nancy know if you plan to attend.  They will need a headcount.  Place:  Petroleum Club, Energy Building, top floor, 8620 N. New Braunfels.  Directions:  From Loop 410, turn north on Broadway.  Turn right on Cheever (about 2 blocks).  Parking available in the front or back of the building.

Correction to chapter directory:  Jo Agee-Housler’s e-mail address is jeveagee4@yahoo.com.

New Private Pilot, Miriam Talley, will be joining the 99s soon.  She passed her checkride on December 7 in 20-30 mph winds!  Congratulations, Miriam!  Look forward to having you with us.

“I would like to wish each of us a very happy and prosperous New Year with lots of safe flying.  I would like to remind everyone to mark your calendars for the Spring Section Meeting in April in Houston – get ready to P A R T Y with new friends and old.

“Because the 99s is a 501 c.3 organization, all expenses are tax deductible, i.e., registration, hotel room and transportation to and from the convention.  If you would like more information, call Nancy, Jo or Patty.  49 1/2s are welcome, and there will be activities planned for them.”  - Nancy

The University of Texas Medical Branch holds an annual symposium to honor one of their former space medicine fellows and astronaut, Patty Hilliard Robertson, who was killed in an aircraft accident.  The symposium features 4 presentations.  Two are generally on aeromedical factors in aerobatics and two are on general topics in aerobatics.  Each year, they try to feature at least one female aerobatic pilot.  This year, the featured speaker will be Marta Bohn-Meyer from the US Aerobatic team.  The Ninety-nines are invited to attend.  The conference will be held from 8-1:00 on April 27, 2004 at the Center for Advanced Space Studies at 3600 Bay Area Blvd., near the Johnson Space Center in Houston.  There is no charge for the symposium or luncheon.

See the attached “Dispatch” – 99s Headquarters newsletter.  Lots of good information.  (You will need Adobe Reader.)
