We had a good turnout for the January meeting and many thanks to Cheryl Casillas for the fun quiz she gave us. Always good to review. We were all impressed with this Lion and Rose and hope to have more meetings there.This year's 99s attendance at the Zonta dinner was probably a record. The twelve who attended were: Sherry Walker, Gloria Blank, Alice Foeh, Reni Moczygemba, Jo Agee-Housler, Winnie Clements, Stella Leis, Ray Leis, Terry Hepworth, Marian Fischer, Nancy Aldrich and Laura Richter. As always, the dinner was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the speaker, Col. Jacqueline Van Ovost.
NEXT MEETING: February 14
Our next San Antonio Chapter 99 meeting will be held Saturday, February 14 at 9:00 am at the tower at KSAT. We are to arrive at the tower gate at 9:00 am, check in with the guard, present photo ID and receive visitor passes.
Patty will need RSVP's for this tower tour because she must provide the attendance list to the tower Friday morning. Please contact Patty by e-mail to patty99pilot@aol.com with names (as in drivers license) by Thursday, February 12 by the end of day. (if you don't have e-mail, please call on my home number and leave a message on the machine (695-3032). I told them to expect 20 - 25 people (as we had a very large turn out last time we were able to have a tower tour.)
As discussed at the meeting we would like to bring "baked goodies" for the tower folks. There are 50 total employees at the tower. So it would be great for each of us to bring something special. ~ Patty Taylor

San Antonio Chapter had a great 2008. We celebrated our 50th anniversary as a chapter at our summer banquet and again with a wrap up luncheon in celebrating our past, present and future in November; we obtained the traveling award at both spring and fall section meetings; we hosted two fundraisers one a hangar BBQ and one an on line auction; gave a section FWP scholarship to chapter member Becky Smith, who immediately achieved private pilot rating; had an AE scholarship winner Cheryl Casillas who immediately completed her 737 type rating; had great attendance at the international conference in Alaska (where we provided two dolled up bears for auction); we have contributed monies to many 99s related requests (endowment fund, AE scholarship . . . ); we have participated in Girl Scout career exploration day twice; provided a speaker to the Zonta club Amelia Earhart Award Luncheon at their conference; had several safety meetings in conjunction with chapter meetings; represented the 99s at the Texas Aviation Summit and enjoyed each others company at three social events. All in all we had a very good year.

All who receive this e-mail are members or friends of the San Antonio 99s. Each member is a volunteer. Our efforts to disseminate information about us is an on-going changing process. We are proud of our website and it will be the new method of distributing information about our chapter. The only e-mail or snail mail notifications sent henceforth will be to current members.
