San Antonio Chapter 99s
February 2008

This month's meeting: Saturday, February 9th , 10:00 AM. Lion and Rose Pub at the southeast corner of Blanco and 410. Phone 210-798-4154. Private room in the back under the name of "99s". Coffee and juice available during meeting, with lunch afterwards - individual checks with automatic 18% gratuity added. Cheryl Casillas will give a presentation on Flight Reviews.

As usual, we all had a great time at the Zonta Dinner on January 16th. Nine 99s attended: Reni Moczygemba, Gloria Blank, Laura Richter, Kay Renfrow, Jo Agee-Housler, Alice Foeh, Patty Taylor, Stella Leis and 49 _ Ray. It's always exciting to meet a WASP, and the film she brought was very nice.

Check out our chapter website at www.sanantonio99s.org Sherry keeps adding more and more. When you pay your chapter dues, Sherry will contact you with the password for the "members only" section. The dues are only $12 a year and these help pay the cost of our website. The meeting minutes and chapter directory are now on the website under "members only".

We had a great meeting in January, some faces we haven't seen for a while and a new face, Maxine Wilborn. Maxine is beginning her flight training and plans to join the 99s as soon as she gets her student certificate. We look forward to having her with us. The minutes are attached with the meeting details.

The information and registration form for the Spring Section Meeting in Albuquerque are now available online at www.scs99s.org. If you do not have access, let me know and I will send them to you. Please consider going. They are lots of fun and you will see first-hand what the Section is doing. Express Jet r/t non-stop tickets are around $200 and that's a bargain!

Gloria and Laura are going to review the chapter By-Laws. Please check them over, and if you see an area in question, please contact one of them: Gloria 830-815-1038 luv2fly@ktc.com Laura 210-696-9845 blueflyer9@aol.com

Once again, you are urged to join the Texas Aviation Association to support their efforts in Texas. The dues are only $25/year and the annual "Weekend Wings" is fun and educational. It is now being held in Waco at Texas State Technical College, generally the last weekend in April. You may drive or fly-in directly to the campus. Many seminars and programs available. More information later. Let me know if you'd like a membership application.

Many apologies for omitting the January birthdays in last month's newsletter. They were: Barbara Moore, Reni Moczygemba, Michelle Achorn, Sharon Homuth, Laura Richter, Winnie Clements, Jo Agee-Housler and Gloria Blank. Send a belated card and say it's Gloria's fault!!

99s Anniversaries in January: Pam Crane (39 years) and Jana Drane (13 years). Wonder if Pam remembers when she wasn't a 99.

February birthdays: Marsha Copeland (22nd)

February 99s anniversaries: Laura Richter (38 years), Evelyn Sizemore (45 years), Winnie Clements (13 years) and Margaret Cosby (27 years).

We have been unable to contact Evelyn Sizemore. If anyone knows about Evelyn or her daughter, Margaret, please pass on the information to Patty Taylor or Stella Leis.

The 99s Headquarters newsletter, "The Dispatch", is now available online at the 99s website.

Article in the "Texas Flyways" magazine - Pauline Glasson was inducted in the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. Pauline's membership in the 99s goes way back (said "early member"). In her 67-year flying career, she had accumulated over 60,000 hours flight time!!! She quit flying at age 92. Remarkable woman.

Hope everyone can make the meeting February 9th. You know we always have a good time!!
