San Antonio Chapter 99s
April 2010

I heard the March meeting was a huge success with lots of folks attending (99s and the aviation community were invited) - a safety session and a presentation on the WINGS program. There are no minutes, due to no business meeting.

Our next meeting will again by held in the Stinson Airfield terminal upstairs classroom on April 10 at 10:00 AM. Erin Palombo has arranged for our program. Bill Hare, a retired meteorologist (for 30 years) will give us a presentation on weather. It promises to be super interesting and hope everyone can attend. His credentials are very impressive.

April 17, 9:00 AM, Stinson Airfield - FAST presents "Four accident causal factors producing the most accidents in the US". Must register to reserve a seat.

Our annual fundraiser BBQ will again be held in Sherry Walker's hangar at Boerne Stage Airfield (5C1) on May 1st. She will probably want us there around 10 AM to set up, but details will be in the May newsletter, or as we receive them.

99s Headquarters personnel are asking for updates for the 2010-2011 membership directory. Please check and make sure your information is correct. I have noticed some errors when checking their records with ours. One name is wrong along with a couple of addresses. The chapter members have been notified of these errors, but this is a little reminder. Please call Headquarters with your correct information before July 1st - 1-800-994-1929.

This June is so busy for some of our members that Cheryl and Reni have had to earn their wages in finding a suitable time for our Awards Banquet. Seems there are at least eight members who have other commitments during June, some taking up one-two weeks - the Air Race for one. In any case, the banquet has been moved to July 17th. Many thanks to Cheryl for finding us a wonderful place. We will be at the Loop 410/McCullough Texas Land and Cattle. This should be pretty centrally located. Wait until you see the menu! Details will be forthcoming, but it definitely will be a luncheon, gathering around noon with a social time preceding the meal. A speaker and awards will follow.

So far, there are seven planning to attend the Section Meeting in Mesquite the weekend of April 23-25 - Denise Pride, Cheryl Casillas, Jo Agee-Housler, Laura Richter, Gloria Blank, Sherry Walker and Patty Taylor. For anyone flying in private planes, call Chris Swain (972-965-5851) when you arrive Mesquite Airport (HQZ) and she will arrange your transportation to the hotel.

Lots of April babies. HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Marty Goppert (2nd), Marcia Weser (9th), Ruth Austin 13th), Linda Stovall (15th), Alyce Taylor (16th), Patty Taylor (25th).

99s ANNIVERSARIES: Sharon Homuth (19 years) and Linda Stovall (19 years). Thank you very much for your support for all these years.
